If they would work but can't due to increased risk for them and/or their family I think it makes sense. Isn’t it a way around the liability question for employers?

I guess what id love to see is some sort of “doctor’s note” oversight, whereby you’ve got to at least jump through some minimal hoops to demonstrate you or a close family member are high risk
If im not mistaken, for most unemployment claims you have to at least check in and show proof that you have been job hunting. So there is reason to stand there should also be some oversight to this as well.

This is my assumption as well.

You only need to look at the teachers who are contorting themselves to rationalize staying in their jammies for the rest of their lives to understand why this sort of broad policy will be a disaster. A lot of people aren't scared, they're fucking lazy.

Surely you guys realise that you just may need to change some attitudes and try some different options to work towards getting this thing under some form of control?

Now is the time for trying some different options. Yep, some will take advantage, but to my mind this is finally a move that actually puts corona management above economic management. That's a required temporary re-set.

Perfect policy doesn't exist here, you can only try to provide different options that allow people to choose safer behaviours wherever possible.

Not only that, but also this is the nationalizing of a policy that has existed in many states since jump.

The Trump administration left it up to states to decide if, for example, presenting documentation that your child is receiving chemotherapy is enough for you to refuse to work in a meat packing plant and still receive unemployment.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I want no oversight on any of these bread-and-circus programs.
