i figured the beginning of the episode was a out of time thing but thought it was the future that ellie had grown up and had a baby. the actress who played her mom...good god they looked like siblings

Wasn’t that the voice actor of Ellie in the video game?

Episodes 3, 5 and 9 were good enough to keep me on board for next season. Those sneaky bastards.

I think it really just feels like it's so close to being great. It's just missing something, I think in the pacing.

Yeah pacing. The first bad omen was Ep. 1 after his daughter died. Gotta sit with that longer.

Make this still a very manageable 12 episodes. Split episode one into 2 episodes, dedicate one to Sam and Henry, then 2 for the cult. Which is even more obvious after how good, and well received the third episode was.

Apparently it took around 200 days to shoot this season. Probably a tough budget call to keep it at a trim 9 episodes.

The series could have really benefited from a slower paced episode of Joel and Ellie on the road between the Sam and Henry/Tommy episodes. That would have given the viewers a chance to see their relationship grow.

You’re thinking of Alan Thicke.

People don’t realize he played every role on that show. Amazing stuff.
