Always blown away by people’s opinions! Hahastip wrote:definitely ahead of take the long way.
this is where I'm at tooMs Harmless wrote:both of these songs get better (or more comfortable) for me with each listen and that's what PJ should do, so I'm happy
All good to great songs!SJM wrote:Always blown away by people’s opinions! Hahastip wrote:definitely ahead of take the long way.
TTLW is a song I’d gladly play for my music buddies. I’d be a little embarrassed to play Running. Guess I like my PJ more rock/serious than punk/playful if that makes any sense! This one is in the ole, Jonny guitar, supersonic, big wave category unfortunately for me - my least favourite type of PJ.
mine too, but this feels like a successful iteration of a choice i prefer they not makeSJM wrote:Always blown away by people’s opinions! Hahastip wrote:definitely ahead of take the long way.

Now you're getting itstip wrote:okay, this is weird. i just listened to this on my airpods and it sounded bad. guitars sounded thin. bass barely present. this was a wildly different experience than listening in my car
I think that is the goal of these productions. Crank it real fucking loud so it sounds great on shitty speakers in your car driving fast.stip wrote:but in one of these environments it was such a stronger song. if this was what i heard first id have a totally different opinion. this was a dramatic difference
why would it sound great on shitty car speakers? because of ambient car noise filling in the gaps?Strat wrote:I think that is the goal of these productions. But given any intricate listening scenario, sounds like horseshit.
Humans gravitate towards loud things. its a fun experience in the car. It competes with songs on the radio.Ms Harmless wrote:why would it sound great on shitty car speakers? because of ambient car noise filling in the gaps?Strat wrote:I think that is the goal of these productions. A lot of traffic, so it wasn't speed/noise. Mostly stop and start. It was loud and filled the space in a really engaging way. Just listened with my good home computer headphones, and it was better than the airpods, but there was still something flat about the mix.Ms Harmless wrote:why would it sound great on shitty car speakers? because of ambient car noise filling in the gaps?Strat wrote:I think that is the goal of these productions. I do really like this song though. The lyrics seem pretty solid too, from what I have been able to make out so far.
I mean, maybe. The nuance I started to hear didn't make me like the song less per se. It's not like it felt like the car experience was papering over something as much as the headphone experience was failing to capture something else.Strat wrote:Humans gravitate towards loud things. its a fun experience in the car. Its very exciting to first hear these songs because they come at you so hard. we love that about PJ. I do, at least.
But then after a few listens, and some careful consideration, and listening on headphones, that is where my excitement starts to wind down a bit. Better equipment you can hear or not hear nuance.
i dont know. Just rapping here.
