It's pretty amazing.
The only main thing I disagree with (and thus, I guess, am the recipient of a fresh mucusy spitwad), is Of The Girl being a great album opener. I'm not going to deny it's strength at opening a concert, but to me it's perfect right where it is. After the cacophony of Insignificance's conclusion, Of The Girl does a great job of easing us into the second part of the record. It does a great job of establishing a Side A and B feel to the record for me, something they needed Red Dot to accomplish on Yield.

I never really return to Sad. I don't really get the enthusiasm for that one. Glad they left it off.

i CTRL+F'ed "light years" because i was sure you'd included it somewhere. i eventually just figured the exclusion was some kind of meta statement or something

just listened to puzzles & games, did absolutely nothing for me. that one wouldn't have aged well (the verses especially).

It's not even close to being done, also; it's far less developed then some of these more recent unreleased tracks we've gotten.

Maybe but I find Light Years far more interesting.

Puzzles and Games main takeaway is the chorus. The verse is pretty blah, and the verse melody is stuttering and awkward sounding when it's there at all. The bridge is good, but sounds shoehorned in there in a way it does not in Light Years. I just wish there was a better song for that chorus, which is pretty powerful.

Maybe but I find Puzzles & Games far more generic.

i used to really dig it, but i think my tastes have just changed. listened to it today for the first time in years, and was struck by how "i don't think i'd care if i never heard this song again" i felt about it. and then i listened to rival and gods dice and in the moonlight and was reminded just how much i love those three.
i know i'm in the minority on this one.

Hmph.
I haven't heard it in forever either, but I can't imagine that being my reaction.
Gods Dice is still the pimple on an otherwise beautiful girl. (Note: upgraded from wart to pimple!)
