interesting. I like Massey Hall much better than Cellar Door, i liked the latter enough but not something for repeat listens.

What ever happened to the CSNY live set Nash was working on? from hmmm 70 or 74? I forget where I read something about that (might have been in NY's book even) I could listen to those live versions of Southerman from 70 all day.

Think its 74. I could be mistaken.
Search Thrasher's Wheat, they had an article/update on it a few months ago.

The songbook is a bit more fleshed out at Massey, and the performance is overall more assured. But Cellar Door has a tentative vibe to it that gives you the impression you're getting a glimpse of something rarer, something more private. I think "Flying on the Ground Is Wrong," between this and the '84 version, has become one of my very favorite Neil tunes.

Really? I think this is miles better than the Pearl Jam-backed version, I love Poncho's guitar part.
From memory, Crazy Horse and David Briggs felt really dicked around by how that all worked out - they were all set to record what became Mirrorball, they'd presumably set time aside for recording and touring etc., when Neil changed his mind and went into the studio with Pearl Jam and O'Brien instead, leaving them at a loose end.

that's incorrect. crazy horse and david briggs were never set to be involved in those sessions.

Same here, I don't remember ever seeing that I think. It's cool, kind of like how it's meant to be played.
Neil seems kinda drunk, too.
That video made me go and crank this jam.

This might be an uphill battle but we'll see.
What have you heard already? Neil's catalogue is pretty vast; you may be better off checking out a few records and seeing if they're your thing, a compilation might not be the most representative introduction to someone like Neil.
