my favorite part was where GRRM doesn't read the scripts they send him because they contain spoilers.

them's my exact words as it was happening; however, it was the least bit surprising. i also thought the lack of music at the end didn't work.
Disagree entirely.
Just watched the episode on DVR. Even though I'm over 24 hours late, I inevitably heard something huge happened. BUT SHIT!
I will admit, when Robb beheaded the Karstark guy, I saw the writing on the wall.
The way they built the tension in the last part of this episode was unbelievable though. It wasn't a surprise Robb was killed, so much as how it played out.
I'm not sure how to catergorize this among my favorite episodes, because I'm still in a bit of shock (over fictional fantasy people dying in a Tarantino-ish ending. I should love this! But..just...*sigh*).
However, the silent credit roll at the end was perfect. I can't remember the last time I was close to catatonic, with my jaw literally dropped at the end of a television show.

If they had played "Dont Stop Believin'" while the credits rolled, it would have been awesome as all fuck....

In regards to Jon Snow I think it is the poorest job they have done portraying him on the show compared to how he comes off in the books. Season 2 was very poor. The whole thing with Halfhand was botched to me.
Jon always seems to pop up as a favorite of book readers but not as much with just show people.
What he did in the last episode was huge for him. Sadly we don't get his internal monologue, but i thought they could have spent a little time at least giving us a eye to eye contact between ygritte and jon when he leaves her. I know he pushed her away but they needed more imo
I've only watched it once so maybe i'll notice more on the second watch.
hopefully next season they can spend more time with Jon.

I was surprised how quickly Jon abandoned Ygritte too. I'm hoping for a little more of a follow up from him in the finale.

I think it shows that he's really the only one from House Stark (even though he's a bastard) to not give a shit about the "right" thing. God knows the "right" thing didn't get Ed, Rob, Cat, and Talisa anywhere but dead. And it may actually work out for him.
By the way, I don't get everyone's hard on's for Ygritte. She's not that good looking in the series.

what do you mean he doesn't give a shit about the "right" thing? Abandoning her was the "right" thing because of his oath to the night's watch.

Yep.
And I'm really surprised by the number of people who see it the other way. Strange.

I think he'll come back for her. He pushed her out of the way so that she could stay with the Wildlings while he goes off to take care of some business. Of course, this being GoT, they'll both probably end up dead by the end of next episode.

i can understand this train of thought in the sense that he's making the right decision based on staying the fuck alive, unlike the rest of his family.

This. Jon was able to comprehend that deception is sometimes necessary, something Ned never was able to do.
And Ygritte's body is amazing but I cannot stand to hear her speak and cringe a little every time she opens her Chav mouth.

her body is amazing? Looked emaciated to me. I think everyone just loves her because she's kissed by fire.
