Corin as all have mentioned sounds really fantastic live.
She really does sound so much better / more in control yet still just as powerful

Kliph Scurlock wrote:Well, Sleater-Kinney exceeded my expectations this evening. It's a rare thing (and I can't think of one other single example) when a band gets back together after almost 10 years and makes their best record yet. And they played pretty much all of my favorite songs tonight. And were just solid as fuck. And Janet Weiss is still one of the greatest drummers walking the planet.

Corin was awesome live as was Janet. Great show a week or two ago. They played almost all my faves.

My attempt at a setlist from Portland last night:

* Price Tag
* Fangless
* Oh
* What's Mine Is Yours
* Ironclad
* Little Babies
* Bury Our Friends
* No Anthems
* All Hands On The Bad One
* Youth Decay
* The Fox
* Get Up
* Surface Envy
* No Cities To Love
* A New Wave
* Words + Guitar
* Entertain
* Jumpers

Encore:
* Gimme Love
* Light Rail Coyote
* Dig Me Out
* Let's Call It Love
* Modern Girl

The highlights were pretty much everything, but in particular "Youth Decay", "Let's Call It Love", "Surface Envy" and the last three songs of the main set. The combo of "Youth Decay" into "The Fox" was absolutely mind-blowing. I am also apparently destined to never hear "I Wanna Be Yr Joey Ramone", since I've now seen them 5 times and never heard it live. Someday...

Go see these gals if you haven't already. So, so, so good.

I thought the songs from The Woods really stood out. New Wave was my favorite from the new record. From a nostalgia/pure fun perspective, Youth Decay was a really awesome moment.

And yeah, Entertain > Jumpers to end the main set was about as good as any band gets.

It is pretty obvious from their live show that The Woods songs are the standouts. :thumbsup:

Nice looking set Matt, great to hear you were able to get a ticket in the end :thumbsup:

I really hope they come through on their promise of an Australian tour next summer.

It was a pleasure, too, to watch the band's dynamic alive again: the way Tucker often opened their tag-team songs, leaving Brownstein to see how much more intense and weird she could make them, was the friendliest kind of competition. The band played most of "No Cities to Love," including the title track -- "This is a song that's not about Portland" -- but wrapped the main set with two songs from 2005's "The Woods." Both "Entertain" and "Jumpers" were among the group's darkest deliveries: Sleater-Kinney was capable of Cobain-level brutality after all, but its rarity gave the feeling teeth.

Heh, yep I saw him sidestage for a moment. I thought he might come out and they'd do something, but kinda glad he didn't so not to take the moment away from S-K. I think he's pretty aware of that kind of stuff.

Setlist from the show I hit in Seattle:

Price Tag
Fangless
Turn It On
What's Mine Is Yours
Rollercoaster
Surface Envy
No Anthems
Bury Our Friends
The Fox
The End of You
All Hands on the Bad One
Light Rail Coyote
A New Wave
No Cities to Love
One Beat
Words and Guitar
Entertain
Jumpers

Encore:
Oh!
I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone
One More Hour
Dig Me Out
Modern Girl

They were on fire. It was funny to see which people in the crowd (young people) only knew about the band because "she's on Portlandia!"... but hopefully that will turn them onto all their albums.

Heh, that was a cool moment. I'm guessing they were at all 3 shows, but at the second show, Corin brought them up on stage for all to see. They were geeking out so hard, it was a really sweet. At one point though, it seemed Carrie started to get a little freaked out by their excitement and their desire to give hugs. After the first couple of hugs, she just started holding her hand out at a distance to shake hands :haha:
