It's been revealed officially that that's not his real name (sort of like a title like "Darth Vader"), so chances are his name/identity has meaning. It'd also be slightly lifting from the EU. I'm hoping not...I'm already skeptical about the new superweapon thing, and I don't think I could handle a hidden identity.

I'm thinking the Rey is Luke's kid, and Kylo has some connection to the Skywalker's as well.

I'm definitely skeptical of the "super weapon" thing. I hope it's not another Death Star. Looks like we may see it in action (the massive explosion in the forrest).

Rey obviously starts with BB-8, and she meets Finn, and then they meet Han and Chewie? Where does Poe come in, and how does he get BB-8 as an astromech droid?

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about a super weapon, on the surface. We'll see how that actually plays out. A hidden identity plotline wouldn't bug me, though. In fact, I 100% expect it.

The scene with the Darth's crushed helmet kinda made me cringe. Hokey as fuck and points to what I dislike about JJ. So hamfisted.

I can kinda get on board with this, too. If that character is some sort of relic collector then context could help that shot a lot.

But let's also not act like there weren't plenty of hamfisted moments in the OT as well.

After a space battle something falls from the sky that contains a character of some sort.
Journey/learning sequence where the kid discovers that they have a familial connection to something bigger and more significant.
A bad guy wearing black shows up.
Someone important to the kid dies at a pivotal moment.
Then they all nut up blow up a planet.

Yeah...it does have the potential to be a pretty literal mirror.

This idea bothers me. I'd rather they were their own characters with their own motivations, not, "You gotta save the universe b/c it's your birthright!" They've already given Poe that sort of backstory in the comics, so, as they say, I've got a bad feeling about this. Finn intrigues me because he's so obviously a blank slate.

So, all the stormtroopers of the First Order are light saber trained? That explains Finn a lot more. Should I be bothered by non-Jedi with sabers? ... I'm just not sure.
