What, you weren't satisfied with the Idris Elba masterpiece?!blueviper wrote:Mike Flanagan should do The Dark Tower books.epilogue wrote:I didn't know anything about it going in other than it was a King story directed by Mike Flanagan starring Hiddleston.VinylGuy wrote:tell us more
It's so great. Well shot. Well paced. Stellar cast.Full of character and heart. It excels at all the same things the best King adaptations excel at. Sharp themes. Memorable scenes. Relatable and human while also being weird and elevated.
Flanagan really gets King. Like, in his bones.
There's also this awesome sort of meta component that I don't really want to get into because it might spoil stuff for people but it's really clever and heartwarming without being cloying or cringey. Flanagan does some stuff with the casting that mirrors a theme of the film and also plays into a broad theme of King's work overall.
Anyway, I just loved it. I wanted to watch it again immediately.
