Watched most of the original Mary Poppins with the kid last night. It’s been a minute.

She loved it, will finish it tonight.

Rewatching Mallrats. Such a fascinating snapshot of the time. It's so nerdy lol. There was a brief moment in the nineties where being a Star Wars/comic nerd was... well not cool exactly... but was trendy underground quality at least, before it blew up.

Jason Lee is still very funny in it. Jay and Silent Bob...not so much.

Strangely missing from this movie is any mention of arcades. It's a pretty big oversight for something that otherwise gets mall culture right.

I remember being in one a few years before that, then they just disappeared. At least in my neck of the woods (suburban Milwaukee).

Killer Instinct hit in 94, and I remember there being pretty big crowds hanging around.

I think they were pretty big until the late 90s. online gaming killed them off for good.

Wolverine was a hugely popular character even before the movie. The animated series was very successful and he was like the main guy. Also the X-Men comics were Marvel's biggest seller through the whole decade.

I think the typical mid 90s metalhead stoner type would call you a fag for mentioning Wolverine (or more specifically Logan or Weapon X like in Mallrats).

X men and Wolverine were very popular in the 80s and specially around 94. Specially with nerds. believe me.
