If they were instructed to ignore quarantine guidelines, that suggests they had either tested positive or been in direct contact with someone who had tested positive. The article confirms it was both.

The sad thing is that in four months time when America is awash in loss and yet still barely hanging on economically, but other nations who undertook more proactive measures are experiencing the early stages of economic recovery, some people will still be too stupid to wonder if maybe the choices those nations made were smarter than our nihilistic abandonment.

Yeah, stay at home was never going to keep people from getting sick. Even under the strictest order, people gotta eat, get medicine, fix broken stuff in their houses. But most of them were working quite well at keeping the hospitals form being overrun, which is what the point was.

Nice to see North Carolina has worked Trumps name into the state flag. I'm surprised he hasn't already ordered all states to do so. And Old Glory, too.

The 'stay at home' order is not worth the price otherwise being paid is one argument, but I don't see how it's possible to argue what we've put into place hasn't had an effect on the virus' spread. How do you explain the drops in NYC and the leveling off in other places around the country? The virus didn't just decide to stop being infectious.

Verb's argument suggests it's a binary choice, and that unless you do everything you should do you might as well not do anything. That's a bunch of bullshit. Any measure we take to reduce the spread matters, even if it's not enough to have the best possible outcome.

Right, my point was that sometimes these headlines are misleading. It's possible the people were already infected or infected outside of work as it's very difficult to test and keep testing people and their contacts over weeks. That statement is in no way, shape, or form meant to endorse any business opening now without sufficient testing and tracing capability, but simply to say testing and tracing is not bulletproof either, just the best we have right now. But the businesses should be liable for damages to both the state and the employees if there is proof they defied national and/or regional laws.
