Love seeing the Joe Dante love from Red Letter and Tarantino lately, I had to rewatch one of the greatest movies of all time: Gremlins 2

Such a dumb throwaway joke but when she's in the elevator and yells "sound alarm!" and the gremlins make alarm noises just cracks me up.

Friendship and half of The Falcon and the Snowman. May not finish a focused watch at least. Probably an Anders watch.

well, I gave it a go and didn't finish it; this movie is tonally all over the place, I hated the tech bro morality posturing opening, enjoyed the emotional family drama aspects that became darker as the conflict arose with brother -- obviously the central performance by the 6th Sense kid is excellent -- but then just lost interest again when it got all bleep bloop cyberpunk, that just isn't my thing; at over 2 hours I just wasn't gonna stick around for the ending

it's OK! can't win em all

I was really frustrated because I liked some bits quite a lot

The Spooky Season festivities have begun:

-The Deadly Spawn: Disappointing. The special effects are very impressive but they are all this movie has going for it. It has the worst symptom of incompetent amateur filmmaking: being drastically under-edited and dragging on interminably. This thing is sooooo sloooow.

-Forbidden World (rewatch): This movie absolutely fuckin’ rips and I can’t believe it doesn’t have a huge cult following. Definitely the best Alien knockoff ever. Gnarly gore effects. So entertaining from beginning to end.

-Nightmares in a Damaged Brain: Good lord, this movie is DEPRAVED. And viciously violent. Reminds me of Maniac and Angst in its downbeat, unsettling, uncompromising portrayal of a serial killer. Good stuff right here.

-Dark Places (1973): Enjoyable, lowkey Brit horror elevated by a great cast (Christopher Lee, Joan Collins, Herbert Lom, Jane Birkin, etc.).

-Night of the Demon (1980): Has its moments (mostly the inserted death scenes), but when it comes to wacko no-budget Bigfoot horror, I’ll take Shriek of the Mutilated all day every day.

Thats such an incredible sequel. Cant believe Dante got away with everything in there!! its Looney Tunes for grown ups.

I saw A Big Bold Beautiful Journey yesterday.

It was nice. I liked it a lot but I would understand anyone who didn't like it. Feels like a movie that was made to appeal to me. It's not perfect, and it lacks that really special seasoning that the very best of these movies has. But the cast is fantastic and I was moved. Looking forward to seeing it again, and watching it at least once a year for the rest of my stupid life.

Fantastic Four: First Steps.

i wasnt as bad as i thought or bland or generic. It had some moments, Galactus was cool. Fun.

I really liked Big Bold Beautiful Journey. It's a bit too on-the-nose about some ideas, but those ideas are ones I'm a sucker for, so it works for me. Like epilogue, I can understand why someone might reject it or be annoyed by it. I think Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are both separately great, but as a couple they have no chemistry whatsoever. It's a mismatch. The supporting cast is great, I thought it was really funny, too. I liked it a lot
