This is one of my absolute favorite REM songs

I like that song, but some stuff from that latter-day "fuck ballads let's rock" period is pretty cringy. "I Wanna DJ" is one of the worst things ever made by anyone

I kinda like that song. Reminds me of some of the sillier stuff from Sonic Youth's Master/Dik era.

I don’t like that song at lol either. But a bunch of those fast tempo songs are good. "Mine Smell Like Honey“ and "Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter" from the last album are great.

I fucking love this song. And this performance was incredible. I believe this performance was the last song they ever played live together.

A lot of times I couldn’t care less what the lyrics are in some of these songs. It’s all about the sound of the song. I can overlook bad lyrics if the song is rockin.

That's most songs by most bands for me. Lyrics are overrated.

I agree. Great lyrics can make a good song better, but bad lyrics rarely ruin a good or great sounding song for me.

And I think they are even easier to overlook in uptempo rock songs than they are in slower songs and ballads.

I tried. Their nineties stuff is ok, and their 80s stuff is crap.

Yeah, REM are OK (at best) for me.

A small handful of good tunes, but that's about it.

I’ve tries many times but I just can’t get into them. Half through nearly every song I’ve heard I get bored.

R.E.M. is probably my favorite band ever. I dig pretty much everything they've done.

I tried to do a full review of their discography a couple years ago and fell into a coma somewhere around Out of Time. The first four albums are wonderful, everything after that is a good single or two surrounded by samey-sounding filler. Stipe(nd)'s voice really grates on me after a while.
