Those aren't the best songs at all! They're the best covers.
I wish he'd used Waving Palms as a blueprint for FD. I would say I hope he uses it again but I don't want another Ed song on the record. That feels a little risky to say because I don't really want another Mike song either.

The bassist is playing wildly out of wack in the verses. Sounds horrible.
I don't like the sound of the band, but I admit it would work as a full band version if PJ did it.

I'm referring to the lyrics. I don't want Ed or Mike writing lyrics all over the album. I don't consider the music 'the song', it's just the music.

What about Brendan's lyrics?

I think you'll be disappointed if you're hoping the remaining 9 or so songs we haven't heard don't have lyrics written by Ed.
And are you saying you hope Ed uses Waving Palms as a lyrical template? Do you like the lyrics to Waving Palms?

As far as I'm concerned, "just the music" is by far the most important part of the song.

Who's lyrics would you prefer over Eds ?

Fair enough, and I can see why you'd say that. The music is obviously the backbone of a great song; it can be the best thing about a song. But the most crucial thing? I don't know. If all the lyrics are completely indecipherable shite, the entire song is ruined imo. It's happened to a few PJ songs lately. Songs in which the music is good but the lyrics are awful might be even worse than songs in which both are just OK.

Actually ignore me. The lyrics to FD suck ass, the rest of them could pull something decent off.

I've got no idea. Basically, any of them are fine when they're writing well. Ideally I'd probably ask for an instrumental album. But then we're left with Matt being too distracting. So all in all, they've not left us with many choices.

Shame on PJ, forcing us to listen to songs with vocals so they can cover matts suck.

Jack Irons was the best drummer PJ ever had.
I think Matt is mechanical. Robotic.

I couldn't even pretend to get behind this. I'd give an instrumental album the same chance I'd give anything else they do, but I realistically couldn't see myself caring for more than a few listens. I don't think they've got it in them to make a really engaging, completely instrumental album.
