I really wanted to like Frankenstein, but I wasn't feeling Isaac here at all. I mean he clearly put a lot of effort into it but ehhh.

Goth and Waltz were awesome though.

I havent seen the movie, but Isaac is such a weird actor for me. He can be good and also totally out of range.

Scenes From A Marriage. He wasnt up the task in front of Jessica Chastain.
Rise Of Skywalker. He is barely awake there. Cant judge him.
X Men Apocalypse. Barely awake.
Mojave. miscasted.

He was great in A Most Violent Year and Ex Machina.

I've never found Oscar Isaac "bad", just kind of mediocre and *there*; I'm not sure I really remember him in anything before Frankenstein, where he's knowingly hammy and melodramatic but super enthusiastic, absolutely chewing the scenery and understanding the assignment; and then Jacob Elordi's (mainly) calm, measured and sensitive portrayal of the creature is the perfect contrast to his bravado

brilliant film, seen it three times

also, it's kind of annoying me that so many people are saying the film "treated them like idiots, hammered a basic theme into them" or whatever; when you find a seemingly straight forward and easily readable "text" / surface of a movie, don't you look further? and isn't the test of a good movie whether there's more to see and think / talk about when you *do* look further? isn't that how great fairytales and children's stories work? Del Toro treats Frankenstein as a fairy tale, and I haven't run out of ways to talk about it since it was released
