It's not $1500 a day, it's every purchase worth under $1500 is free
Most things are under $1500 individually, and the ones that aren't you can easily get around in this scenario
I am assuming we are saying bills are purchases

having said that how would you deal with a home? rent isnt so much a purchase as it is a agreement to pay X every month for Y

breakfast lunch and dinner would all be free since they are below the 1500 threshold
utilities such as gas, electricity, cable, phones etc. all those would be free (based on my first assumption)
you could easily use uber for your rides (if youre in a big city) or if in a more rural area it would be a matter of availability.

I think it all depends on how we classify housing if it would be worth it

Yeah in this scenario you wouldn't be able to buy a home (however if you already own one it wouldn't be taken away from you). This is fine by me. Like I said, I would move into a hotel or a nice airbnb where I'm able to pay by the day or in chunks that fall under the threshold.

But then if I want to keep my house, I would still have to work since I have to be able to pay my mortgage.

This might be a great scenario for someone who likes living in cities, but that is not me, so this isn't really feasible.

As far as getting a car goes, though, couldn't you lease one? You're not technically purchasing the car, so if the monthly payments are under $1500, you could basically lease the car for free, no?

Still, the hotel stipulation kills this for me, but yeah.

You should be able to if you can get a 0 down lease

In that case, Trump's 1,000-year mortgage idea might be a good idea

only if your mortgage is more than 1500 a month

I'm not doing it, Jorge. Vacations, guitars, dirt bikes, etc... are all off the table!

Vacations are not off the table. You can buy individual tickets for under $1500. Just gotta take more flights. In fact vacations are much BETTER because everything is free!

Expensive guitars are off the table, yeah. Seems worth it though.

I think this would come down to whether you could adjust your lifestyle into a semi-nomadic, permanent vacation mode. Which is probably a very fun way to live. I just don't know if I could do it. I'm a homebody who likes stability.

Taking more flights is making my vacation worse!

I think I'd do it. All the travel, and you could find some POS car for "around town" if you chose to stay in one place for some time. Hell the Kia Forte my stepdaughter drives, 2011, 150,000 miles, is only blue booked at like 1k. And that thing gets her everywhere.

Also when traveling, you could just rent cars for a few days at a time, keeping it under $1500.

I want to do this. Jorge, how do I do this?

Caveat, soon Pearl Jam tickets will be over $1500 so there's that.

Jorge, you got me thinking about the ins and outs of this way too much.

If I took the deal but my wife didn't, then couldn't she just make any purchases we need over $1500?

I'll answer this one for Jorge. You can't do that.

Your acceptance is irrelevant. I am the decider

You could buy the parts of a car and then pay mechanics a bit at a time to assemble it.

What’s the plan with health coverage (especially in the US)? If you don’t need a job, are we treating the monthly premium for private insurance as the purchase? You can get indivial for less than that, but family coverage you might exceed that. Why if your kid needs an operation? Or just braces?
