Would be about your level in fairness.
They gave jar jar a horrible end in that last aftermath book.
Homeless begging and busking as a juggler on the streets of jakku (I think?) and ran out and banished from naboo. He was blamed for everything that happened and made a pariah.
A bit much but it's canon now.

I've always hated the 'Anakin was created' idea. So that will probably happen.
He was though. We just don't know 100% who by. Sith dealt in dark arts such as these and the Plageuis story shows us he plays the longest game imaginable. Like working and laying plans and planning decades ahead of time.
I don't know if they'll ever explain it with regards Anakin in particular. But I think Plageuis and Palpatine are still on the table. We know they are based on the new canon books.
It's still a theory.

I still hope that they manage to save something from all the flaws of Force Awakens. That somehow they can both manage to be original, and not fall into all the same traps. This talk of Anakin being born from Plagueis/Sidious and a virgin mother, and Snoke possibly being Sidious, has really put a damper on it though. Also Mark Hamill saying that the director felt the opposite about Luke than he himself did, feels like a really bad sign. Hope I am proven wrong.

All this fan chatter talk is so annoying. Nobody knows a damn thing. Rampant speculation based on an image of a guy that looks nothing like palpatine.
God, just leak already.

Mark and Daisy both have said they were shocked with where their characters are.
Mark seems genuinely unhappy about it and is only barely covering it up. He's only on the BTS reel for one quote. You'd imagine he'd be front and center.
Looks like he's gonna die in 8. Probably Rey kills him or he sacrifices himself to save Rey.

I'm a fairly positive person, and had more positive things to say about the prequel trilogy than anyone I know, despite some terrible flaws (like the thing about Anakin's birth). I really liked Rogue One & the Clone Wars, and have loved the original trilogy my whole life. I was disappointed with The Force Awakens. Since this is the direct sequel, it is not that hard to believe these rumours. Hopefully it will be great.

like strat said, almost any idea will be fine if executed well, and even the best idea on paper could suck

Just when people had stopped talking about the franchise being out of fresh ideas - there's a theory going around that Snoke is Palpatine

That old chestnut? Maybe he's actually some new character that's never appeared before, and isn't related to anybody?
Why the fuck are we suddenly living in a Star Wars universe where it's impissible to kill people, and it's absurdly incestuous because everyone's related?

I mean, if they want to try to get away from the criticism of these new movies mirroring the original trilogy, it would be a huge mistake to have Palpatine alive, right? Ugh, I sure hope it isn't. Dime is right, it is a game changer, because I'd be hugely soured by that move.

Yes it is. They've already essentially brought back the empire, made Luke not a galactic hero, and if they bring back Palpatine?
And reset the character arcs of Han and Leia
