This is a 2-star song.

Lyrically the target is too easy and Ed still misses with that lame refrain ("MIND YOUR MANNERS!"). I feel embarrassed for everyone when he lets the crowd shout it live.

Musically it's nothing special. "Punk" by numbers. Mike's solo deserves a better song.

yeah Mike's the best part of this song

i do like Ed's vocals in the first verse though. i wish he'd utilize that lower register growl more often, versus the screeching.

It's one thing to like a song, it's another to say it's the best thing they've done said since Yield.

Unless that song is "Sleight of Hand" or something, then a statement like that makes a lot of sense

MYM's lyrics are excellent, and a fair bit more sophisticated than most people give it credit for, especially compared to some of the more superficially deep songs in the catalog.

The main riff (outside of the opening/closing part) is a bit punk by numbers, but strong lyrics, great performance by Eddie, that wonderful layered chorus, and one of Mike's better solos.

I love this song.

Right.
Sleight of Hand is the best song they've ever made.

Then there's another 125 songs they've also made.

Then there's MYM.

Then there's Backspacer.

Then there's Sleeping By Myself.

Er...no. Sleeping By Myself IS one of the best songs on the later albums IMO.

MYM would be better if it wasn't shoe-horned into the beginning of every single show since it came out, and instead was played every once in a while

So it’s not the song it is the over exposure.

The song is fine on their album

Their choice to use it as a standard in their live repertoire always early on in the set is a disaster IMO

I don't think the live versions have come close to capturing the studio

Um... that would be 4/4 and 8/8.
There are also 16/16s but I wouldn't risk trying that on drums, that's for jazz drummers with their finger strokes.

Although I enjoyed initially, it has lost its value for me over time.
All I hear now is something that starts like an Ace of Spades ripoff but then it stops knowing what it wants to be.
