PJ - if you're out there - hear the message loud and clear. "Yes yes please please more of this... keep chasing that rabbit down this hole!"
LB sounds more BS to me than it does No Code.
There's nothing on LB to make you go "WTF?!" like say, "Who You Are" "In My Tree" "I'm Open" or "Smile."
(yes you go "WTF?!" after LTRP, SBM and FD but for totally different reasons).
PJ Different weird = good
PJ Different sappy keyboard folk songs/sitcom themes = bad
That is only really three songs on the album though. And the three WTF moments off of No Code you mentioned are some of the most beloved songs on that album. I'm Open, Habit, and Around the Bend are the shitty WTF moments for me on that album, and I am not sure I prefer them over the Lightning Bolt songs mentioned. Either way, No Code is a great album despite the moments where it goes to shit. The good is that good.

Pendulum is kind of a WTF moment, in a good way.

Pendulum is the best song they've released since Riot Act

I think that Lightening Bolt will be somewhat of a template for the bands records moving forward.
5-6 regular rock songs and ballads for the 'Stip Years' fans then 5-6 experimental/ambient tracks and less traditional rock songs for the 'Middle Years' fans.

If 2013 Pearl Jam were a TV show....It would be "Saved By The Bell -The College Years".

The digital content on this might well be something really special.
You guys are getting your hopes up way too much. London and wrigley boots? Nah, this is the same 10C that started the "instant classic" series, remember...

The one that signifies the beginning of a new era where albums come out every couple of years again and b-sides are brought back into the fold as well as xmas singles that dont suck?

No, it is not.

Only if this Lightning Bolt contains exactly 1.21 Jigawatts.
This deserves nomination, we are technically still in "build up" phase, right?

By the way ... Anyone else notice they moved the countdown clock back 12 hours a couple of days ago?
I think that is tremendously amusing.

Still waiting on the Pitchfork review to render void all of your opinions. Or maybe PJ will get the dreaded "no Pitchfork review".
