Yeah I think this is what a lot of people are missing

I assumed they have some ridiculous policy that prevents them from playing anything controversial or edgy in their playlists anyway.

The intro sounds like something from a big dramatic minor-scale ballad but then not only is there a big tempo / tonal change but the song shifts to the parallel major for the weird-ass verses, where she sings a melody that itself goes back and forth between modes; every other beat she's alternating between A and Am, which is fairly unusual for a big Max Martin pop single. Not only that but the weird jungle breakbeat rhythm and her vocal performance... it all adds up to a song that is strange and jarring and off-kilter. I like it, but it's so odd
