Every president in our lifetime has been a warmongering globalist, and yes plutocrat, who has stopped giving two shits about the voters the moment they won their election. First and foremost, Trump is not like them, and for a huge number of voters who are sick tired of being called stupid or racist for actually wanting their president to put their nation first, it makes his complete unfitness for the job irrelevant.
First of all, it is completely ridiculous, especially since it has only come up since we have had a black president, to theorise that the president is not "putting our nation first". That is a fantasy that racists and conservative blowhards have concocted in their own minds...the same ones who said that we
must not, under any circumstances, criticise George W. Bush for any reason. So don't give me that bullshit. What they are really saying is, "We must put straight white America first". Their own past behavior contradicts the theory that it could be anything
but racism and stupidity.
Second of all, Trump is not concerned about anyone but himself, and his own words and actions have made this all too clear. So your idea of replacing a long line of presidents who have been sneaky about their opinion of the American public with someone who has been clear about the fact that he doesn't give a shit right from the get-go...and that his "unfitness" for the job is irrelevant...is not only moronic...it's psychotic. All he has to do is say that he is "just like you", concerned about that same things that you are, and against "fill-in-the-blank" like you are, regardless of how crazy or implausible it is (or what he actually believes), and people will follow him like sheep. It's classic manipulative behavior...the same tactics used by potential cult leaders. And the stupid and poorly educated are the most vulnerable to this. See how that works?
And the fact that he has said that he will gladly bomb the shit out of anybody doesn't make him a "warmonger"? You must have an interesting definition of what that actually means.
See, people aren't calling them stupid and racist because they are angry and prejudiced. They are just laughing at them and ridiculing them, because it's like watching the political Special Olympics.
So what you are calling "prejudicial opinions", I simply call "the powers of observation".

I will say this for Trump...he seems more likely than any other candidate in my lifetime to recognize what made America militarily successful: spend the first 2/3 of the war selling weapons to both sides, and then swoop in after everyone else is half-dead to act like we took care of everything.

And every observer brings with them prejudices and biases. You really believe that Obama is the first president to be accused of not putting the good of the nation first
and it's because he's black? There is no other possible explanation for criticism of his policies other than *ism? Come on. And what I said was that people who feel they have been betrayed by career politicians will forgive his failings because he is not one. They will believe his rhetoric, regardless of the evidence, because of it. That he is totally unfit to be president doesn't matter, because he is not from the groups that sold out their jobs and criticize their values. If you think that concept is moronic, fine. I disagree. I think it is the very core of politics.
And just so you know, I am not defending Trump. I was (reluctantly) pro Hilldog while most people in this thread were busy creaming over grandpa Muppet. But I do take issue with the stance that Trump supporters are one dimensional sheep. They are people who have rights and a political voice, and though I disagree with the vast majority of what they say, I refuse to shame and dismiss them with the tired old array of Progressive dog-whistle terms designed to end debate. There is not a single sentence in your post or the one before that suggests you have given those tens of millions of people the slightest benefit of the doubt that they may not be as you assume them to be. You call them racist because many of them might hold beliefs that are not in line with yours. You call them stupid (or 'special olympics' types) because their experiences make them value political issues and stances differently than you. Perhaps, and I'm just spit-balling here, this is the root of political dysfunction in this country. The complete absence empathy for those of the "other" tribe. Far easier to just judge and dismiss than to walk a mile in their shoes.

That's crap bi. Don't get all teary eyed patriotic over the trump supporters. There's very little about them that merits that kind of defense. These are largely white middle aged, middle class men who feel disenfranchised by the election of Obama, not once but twice, and are twirling around like little kids at the prospect of an openly rude , crass, unapologetic man who is rich enough to not care about his image or his country's best interests being in a position of power.
Makes them all warm and fuzzy feeling, like maybe it's ok to start beating their wives again and openly referring to black men as niggers again without fear of societal repercussions.
And I don't give a fuck about Sanders or hillary Clinton.

Team 98% malice.
Every trump supporter I know holds very very high racist ideals. Most never went to college nor left their home town. Its quite fascinating. I get the idea of a non politicain running our country, but trump is not the guy for that job.
Also, my brother in law is supporting trump. It hurts me.

I didn't think Sanders was a decent enough political player to get anything accomplished as president, and hillary is pretty much ALL player at this stage of her career, which won't be all that great either. Otherwise, I'm not of any particular feeling about the election. Trump strikes me as an insane alternative regardless
