man.. taylor momsen nailed that.
yeah pretty sad overall though - it was like they were all processing some shared trauma together on stage. ben seemed kinda out of it.

Oh dude that was so emotional. Got me thinking bout being a kid and listening to Badmotorfinger a lot. Jim speech was gorgeous and Lily’s was perfect. The band sounded hugeeee and yes, Taylor needs to tour with then she was awesome.

Got chocked up with Kim’s speech. Beatiful to see Mike and Jerry being so into it.

And damn Toni’ s voice. Damn !!

What a night

Other than Ben’s bass, that was perfect. From start to finish. Get these guys out with these girls and fucking tour.

Watching Krist as they were talking about Chris was sad. He misses his friend, too.

I thought everyone did a pretty great job up there but thought Brandi Carlisle sounded the best on Black Hole Sun. I only wished they played more songs.

Sadly, I missed The White Stripes, the end of the Joe Cocker tribute, and Bad Company, but perhaps they’ll have it recorded somewhere?

I was expecting Loud Love or Drawing Flies maybe but it made sense to let Toni sing one.

It was interesting to see both Susan and Lily and Vicky, Toni and the brother too all sharing the night. Maybe they are in peace.

And new music will come out!! Fuck yeah.

It kinda looked like the band and Susan Silver organized the speech and the performance; and Toni’s performance was tagged on late in the game.

potential counterpoints:

Susan Silver hasnt been their manager in like 20 years

the speeches didn't look very organized

maybe they kept the Toni thing close to the vest out of sensitivity to the family

It's hard not to sound hyperbolic when I talk about Soundgarden. If Pearl Jam was my center Soundgarden was my compass. If Ed's songs helped me figure out where I was Chris picked me up and got me out of my head and moved me forward. My Wave, Black Day, TDITTL, Rusty Cage etc etc i owe alot to these songs.
I new when Brandi took the stage I was going to be faced with the line" no one sings like you anymore " I new i would be emotional. . Then the music well I've said enough really, but in my mind there hasn't ever been a better band.

Clearly, you didn’t see Matt’s speech.

None of them played. 21 Pilots and Olivia Rodrigo/Feist did White Stripes. Bad Company had their drummer with Joe Perry, Bryan Adams, Nancy Wilson, Chris Robinson and some rando bass player. Haven’t seen the Joe Cocker thing yet or Cyndi Lauper. Stevie Wonder, Flea, Questlove, Beck, Jennifer Hudson and more handled the Sly tribute. (Quite well, btw.) Big Boi did a few OutKast tunes with other people I didn’t know. Andre did not participate. Unless Lauper performed only Salt N Pepa and Soundgarden actually did their own performance with full (surviving) member participation.

I found the Soundgarden induction and performance extremely moving.

As a lifelong fan it was an incredibly bittersweet night - I hope it provides some closure to Matt, Kim and Ben.

Surprisingly good performances of Rusty Cage & Black Hole Sun... mainly due to the ladies on vocals it must be said. Although I was surprised to see Hiro AND Ben play bass on Black Hole Sun (I thought they'd play Loud Love with Hiro), thank Christ Hiro was there as he was playing BHS like McCartney would play it, and seemed to be enjoying it, while Ben looked out of it and had big problems with his rig. I actually thought they'd turned down Ben as the song progressed.

Was great to see Hiro speak first, Matt looked very emotional, and to see Kim lose it was so powerful. He always struck me as a little cold but you could see things got on top of him the other night. Very cathartic.

Susan Silver & Lily, and Vicky and her kids all in the same room ... things seems to be aligned now to get the final album out as there seems to finally be peace and concensus between all parties.
