I'm not sure I'd call Sirens a burner, it's pretty big throughout the whole song.

I can't believe how many plays/streams Sirens has. It's a terrible song.

It’s horrendous.

Among the worst of the worst from these guys.

Both awful - but somehow, Sleeping By Myself is even worse.

They are quite different. I was speaking to them both being Pink Floyd-influenced Mike burners that build and release. From where I stand, that genre was perfected with Upper Hand.

Sirens is a song whose passionate lyricism absolutely kills me, so it definitely has merits.
one song sounds like pink floyd, the other one doesn't. 'sirens' is closer to bon jovi than pink floyd.

Always trips me up to see how much folks dislike "Sleeping By Myself." I count it as a highlight from a very bad album. I really like the chords.

the only crime sbm did was that it was not a new song, and we had that Ed version for a long time, so it felt they were empty and just tossed that out because Brendan told them it could be a hit

I wouldn't even put it on the very bad album category, when so many other bands would kill for a Lightning Bolt.
Maybe bad PJ album. But yeah, I also count Sleeping By Myself as a highlight.
Big time.

I really like "Sleeping by Myself" -- one of my favorite LB tracks. How the band transformed Ed's uke version feels like one of the most genuinely creative moments on the record to me, way different than the in-the-background approach they usually take to Ed's "solo" tracks. I wonder if Ed felt a bit freer to relinquish some control over the arrangement, since he'd already essentially rendered the song his own on the solo record. TBH I think "Sleeping By Myself" and "Sirens" are my two favorite LB songs, a pretty stark about-face from when the record first came out.

Something Special recently made me want to listen to SBM again so I put on Lightning Bolt. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the album from start to finish considering it’s my least favorite from this band. I really enjoyed Getaway, Sirens, SBM and Future Days even though I was pretty sure those were 4 songs I didn’t really care about.

And of course Yellow Moon stood out as one of the most beautiful songs the band has ever made.

It feels like a very cynical attempt at stomp clap hey, one of the most aggravating musical trends of my lifetime.

Just thinking about that song is setting my teeth on edge.

I don't hear it, not big enough. Very little stomping potential. To me it sounds more like a quaint country number

I don't think of that stuff as being 'big' as such, more folksy and uptempo.

The stomping is optional, notwithstanding the name.

it's not bad, it's just pointless; the Uke songs version has more personality

Yeah I just don't really like it. I don't like just the plinka-plinka sound of a ukulele with Ed singing over it. Much prefer the fullness of the band arrangement.
