You don’t have to dig too deep to see it as a commentary on cultural vampires stealing black culture (music and dance in the case of Sinners) for their own gain of influence/power.

Planning to watch Come See Me in the Good Light after work tonight. It will likely be the final Oscar nominee I get to see before the ceremony Sunday night.

This movie knocked me flat. So much joy. So much empathy. This is the kind of film, I think, that can alter a life.

I liked Sentimental Value well enough but it still disappointed me because I was expecting to love it

It's in my top 10 of the year and yet still I basically agree. I expected to like it more than I did, so it does somehow feel disappointing.
