Re: What movies are you watching?
The Drama was excellent.
Everyone expect Alana Haim is giving stellar performances. The movie is really tight and smart. I don't want to get into too much detail for those who haven't seen it, but I love how it all hangs together. And I appreciate how well it threads the needle without ever becoming preachy or cringey.
The movie fucking hilarious and the more I think about it (and chat with others) the more I like it.

Someone spoiled the "big reveal" for me and I'm surprised it's so controversial but I guess it's a cultural difference
I'm still looking forward to seeing it. Seeing a lot of strong reactions on both ends

Re: What movies are you watching?
To be clear, there is no "big reveal" in this movie. Don't let social media and marketing fuck you up. There isn't any "twist" or "big reveal" in this movie. If you've seen the trailer, you know exactly what this movie is.

I do, yes. And I agree 100% with what you said -- in that you're surprised at controversy. I think that controversy is manufactured. I can tell you, anecdotally, that I heard at least 5 different couples walking out of the movie agreeing. So, I think it's a weird marketing thing?
Either way, the movie is about more than that and really interesting.

Yikes, yeah, I didn't have the same reaction at all.
I mean, I agree about Alana's character. But otherwise...

Rewatches:
Nothing But Trouble
Still batshit insane. I wouldn't call it a great movie, but it certainly is memorable! Also, I didn't realize Tupac was in Digital Underground. I feel like I should have known that.
Who is Harry Crumb?
This was entertaining.
Uncle Buck
Always felt that this one was underrated.
Delirious
A convoluted mess. Could have been much better.
Clue
IMPORTANT NOTE: this movie does not star John Candy. It was fine. Kinda weird to see Madeline Kahn sleepwalk through a movie. Everyone else seems like they are having fun.
Wagons East
This one is a dog, but there was one funny gag, and Richard Lewis wasn't too annoying.

If anyone is interested I have a funny story about Delirious. But it really isn't all that meanigful.
"Who wrote that?! I didn't write that!"
and
"Lox and cream cheese on cinnamon toast? Get it out of here!"
Are my favorite bits.

Re: What movies are you watching?
I imagine Harry Crumb hasn't aged well, but I haven't seen it in years!

Is the only thing I really remember from it and it feels kind of racist?

Re: What movies are you watching?
Clue absolutely rules. It's weird that you think MK is "sleepwalking" through it.
Did you actually watch it? Were you 2nd screening? Because the movie is like perfect.

A couple of his costume choices would be taboo by today's standards.epilogue wrote:I imagine Harry Crumb hasn't aged well, but I haven't seen it in years!
