"Fiji, Fiji from Bombay, Bombay air-conditioning!"

Is the only thing I really remember from it and it feels kind of racist?
Harry Crumb is outstanding! Between this and The Great Outdoors my old college roommate and I would pretty much quote line by line.

I love The Great Outdoors.

Again, haven't seen it in years, but my memory is that it's a really fun comedy.

I have been going a bit to the Bafici, a film festival in Buenos Aires. I only got tickets for movies my friends did and i had the lousy idea of getting a ticket for the Stillz movie.

So far ive seen

Under Your Feet, a passion project a great friend of mine did after probably 12 years. He got to shoot it in Bilbao with Maribel Verdú. It was really interesting to see it after knowing the project for so long. Loved it too.

Barrio Triste, directed by Stillz and a very good example of why a ad and video director doesnt equate into a good director. Jesus christ this was probably the ugliest piece of shit i ever saw. I felt dizzy. Its just one of the worst things ever. fuck you Stillz go back to make music videos.

It’s one of the best Aykroyd movies, as well.

Another movie festival this time it was:

Principe Oscuro, a documental about Carca, a well known musician from Argentina. Another passion project from a great friend of mine that took around 3 years to be complete, so it was very rewarding to be watching it.

Clueless - damn Alicia Silverstone was a STAR in this. It's funny how unrelentingly sweet this movie is. Everyone is just kinda pleasant.

Masters of the Universe - say what you will about this movie, but Frank Langella Skeletor is so much better than whatever Jared Leto is gonna do. And Courtney Cox is just adorable.

Men at Work (1990) - for some reason I thought this was peak comedy when I was eleven. And to be honest, it's not too bad, at least until the last act. Keith David is always a pleasure.

I like the theme/project you're focusing on of late, Burt. Is it born out of anything special, are you just feeling nostalgic?

Nostalgia and I think I'm trying to rediscover the extinct art of comedy filmmaking.

I love this! Art inspiring art is what is all about. If that poem is ever available publicly, let me know, please.

Saw a clip from As Good As It Gets and had to see how it held up. As a kid I very much thought this movie was about “haha look at the grumpy old jerk who can’t step on cracks in the sidewalks also the dog is the star of the show” and man as an adult I really felt for the 3 main characters and just their struggling through life, but also the dog is the star of the show.

Hey I just revisited this a few months ago! Only saw it once ages ago and barely remembered it. I don't usually like Brooks much but was surprised by how much I enjoyed this this time. It's a weird assemblage of ideas and tones that kinda makes no sense but works despite it all. It's just nice to hang out with the cast and characters for 2+ hours.

Monster Squad  : I kinda wonder why this isn't as well remembered as Goonies or Lost Boys, but then again it's not quite as good and modern audiences would find A LOT to disapprove of. It's a solid movie, though. And the creature makeup is terrific. The little girl nonchalantly saying "don't be chickenshit" always cracks me up.

Tank Girl  : There is a lot to like here, but a lot of it sucks, too. Such an incredibly 90s movie. Lori Petty is great. It gets progressively more stupid, but it's not terrible. Kinda makes me want to read the comic. I can see a lot of it didn't transfer over.
