Definitely a good use of gargantuan amounts of power and water though, certainly better than just writing a couple sentences yourself
And again this is really no different than saying something like "but you are outsourcing the part of your brain that plays the instruments". It can be used poorly or lazily of course just like any other instrumentJorge wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 2:16 pm The "instrument" here is the part of your brain that turns a thought into a sentence, and that’s the part you outsourced. That’s why it sucks.
Yeah I'm not reliant on it but I do have fun exploring it
Except people are still playing those instruments so it’s not like that at alltree_ wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 2:23 pmAnd again this is really no different than saying something like "but you are outsourcing the part of your brain that plays the instruments". We could get into a whole debate about tools and authorship, performance, and where the human contribution begins or ends, but for me it's simple: a synth changes the texture of your expression. An LLM replacing your phrasing replaces the expression itself. On a message board, how you say the thing is the thing (I think that's what Argo was getting at). Otherwise we’re all just exchanging summaries of opinions, and again, that suckstree_ wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 2:23 pmAnd again this is really no different than saying something like "but you are outsourcing the part of your brain that plays the instruments". I see this and respect it, but it is a matter of opinion/preference. I believe ultimately all that really matters is the content of what one says.Jorge wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 2:30 pmWe could get into a whole debate about tools and authorship, performance, and where the human contribution begins or ends, but for me it's simple: a synth changes the texture of your expression.
