Many reasons, but for starters: I think he’s a genre stylist who constantly fights his nature to the detriment of his movies. That’s why Tenet is his one total success for me: it’s an exercise in genre style that’s unencumbered by Nolan’s usual, desiccating obsession with logic. He’s free to just work and move and the movie actually winds up somewhere fun and meaningful because of that.

Basically, Nolan is a dumb guy who thinks he’s smart. He should embrace being dumb, because he could make much better movies if he did.

I think he has the creativity of a stock broker, but probably would have made some great crime dramas. But he shouldn't listen to me because he obviously fills a big spot in the market. His movies are mostly pretty dumb, but smart enough to make the masses think he's super complex.

Not to mention the sound in his movies is terrible!

I listened to a podcast recently that talked about how there is a generational divide between people/fans that think 2001 is the best "space" movie and how that's shifting to Interstellar now with younger generations.

My mind was legit blown.

Eh, everyone thought Citizen Kane was the greatest movie until The Godfather came along. Every generation or two has their own things.
