What are you talking about the first album is full of historical references.

Re: Rage Against The Machine
it took him years to write and re-write the evil empire album lyrics. basically the band broke up over it unofficially and then got back together because he was such a perfectionist
the reason renegades is a cover album is bc morello wanted to pump another album out quickly after BOLA
Zack said no bc he likes to craft his lyrics
they settled on using lyrics from people Zack respects
then they broke up

Re: Rage Against The Machine
Evil Empire is their best album
it is also their best souding album. i agree with Trag I have difficulty listening to the 1st album now bc the production sounds so weak
Live and Rare is a great official sony release and the quality of the 1st album tracks on it is very good
highly recommend this
i was able to buy it online for peanuts a couple years ago. used to be berry difficult to find back in the day

i think saw that. Morello talks about how painful the dynamics were.tragabigzanda wrote:There was an interesting article a while back that illustrated their tensions as being the result of overnight success. They went from being a college band to having a deal, to touring the world, so quickly, and never got the time to know each other as people.96583UP wrote:it took him years to write and re-write the evil empire album lyrics. basically the band broke up over it unofficially and then got back together because he was such a perfectionist

but sometimes that friction fuels the intensity
a lot of great players on the same sports teams are assholes / hate each other
part of being competitive and really good at stuff

tons of shittragabigzanda wrote:For sure. I’m really fuzzy on the particular political involvements of the members too.
Zack: Zapatistas, Tibet
Tom: Labor unions and whatnot
The other two??

the other two are kind of cro-magnon and just went along with Zack and Morello

People think the debut doesn't sound good? I've always thought it was held in high regard by audiophiles.

I got the vinyl on Record Store Day in November 2018 or Spring 2019. You can probably find it on discogs if you collect vinyl.96583UP wrote:Evil Empire is their best album

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Brad Wilk & YTimK still one of my all-time fav rhythm sections. Bass line of No Shelter ftw.

Re: Rage Against The Machine
Rage is a band I legitimately think I could have drummed for. Straightforward and heavy. Love love love it.
Also, Rage’s lyrics are still as relevant now as they were 20+ years ago. SAD!
