I love the opening track too, but if that's the only positive you have for an entire album, I think calling it good overall is a stretch. Sorry boys.

(My Big Mouth, Stand By Me and Fade In-Out are also solid, but not enough to salvage the record overall)

Definitely not the only positive I have, I think the only song that gets a bit long in the tooth for me is Magic Pie but ya like what ya like, d'you know what I mean.

I like most of the songs on the album. I lose interest toward the end but I really like about 2/3 of it.

The singles from Morning Glory were omnipresent for about 18 months in 1996-97. I thought they were so-so songs before being bombarded with them by MTV/radio/friends every few hours, but it got to the point where I actively hated them they were on so much.

When “D’You Know What I Mean” came out it felt like such a breath of fresh air — to someone only familiar with the Morning Glory singles, this was the first song that felt worthy of the sneering, self-aggrandizing attitude that the band constantly put across during interviews. I bought the CD and loved it. That was the same summer I really got into the Beatles, Radiohead, The Doors etc, and the excess and ego of Be Here Now fit a lot more comfortably alongside that stuff than the Morning Glory material fit alongside the grunge I was listening to a year prior.

I went back and listened to Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory in full some years later and found them really average. It’s possible that, had I first heard Be Here Now at that same time, I would have found it even worse, but its hooks were into me already. Ultimately I think it was just a right time/right place one-off.
