There's nothing "Folk" about "I Need Something Different" or "Moonlander."

There's nothing "Rock" about "Both Live," "Your Flames," or "Battle Cry."EJ wrote:There's nothing "Folk" about "I Need Something Different" or "Moonlander."

This is not the kind of heat I enjoy. This is genre-defining heat.

first few times i heard "your flame" it kinda reminded me of a country song. although i think this was around the time stone was playing hank williams songs so maybe thats why it reminds me of a country song.

Re: Moonlander - Stone Gossard
Well, I crafted the post to look like EJ's post. There is something rock there, but those are not rock songs. And as it stands, they're the majority of songs released for this album.cutuphalfdead wrote:Yes, yes there is.B wrote:There's nothing "Rock" about "Both Live," "Your Flames," or "Battle Cry."EJ wrote:There's nothing "Folk" about "I Need Something Different" or "Moonlander."
I don't say it in a disparaging way, but so far, this is not a rock album. At the very least, it's a mix of several genres.

I'll take wikipedia's word on rock music the same day I take your word on the quality of Riot Act.

Doesn't the use of an oboe in Both Live automatically rule it out of being a rock song?

Re: Moonlander - Stone Gossard
Yeah, because wind instruments have never been used in rock songs before.
