I threw on Fire and Skill: The Songs of the Jam yesterday and totally forgot the Beastie Boys do Start! with Miho Hatori.

some random reel just popped up on Instagram and it was an old live performance. I really miss these guys and really wish they were still all around and making music.

I really enjoyed that interview. I also loved the Beastie Boys Book and show. But the peaceful yet chaotic MCA is sorely missed.

I bought the book like two years ago and never read it. I need to dive into that one.

It’s a lot of fun. They really pay homage to MCA throughout it. And acknowledge and atone for their boneheaded youth. But mostly it’s like a 70s/80s NYC time capsule.

Yeah I really want to dive in; I just keep getting books and stuff and that one is still in the pile.
But I’m actually reading more so it will happen this year

Reading a book like this is a great way to revisit the catalog. Gather up all your music, and after you read about an album or EP, go listen to it. Then go back to the book.
Then you're taking the book in Little snippets and enjoying the music in a new way.
I did this with PJ20 and Bob Spitz's Beatles biography.
I feel like I love that album more than most BB heads, but that is excessive & unnecessary IMO.
The blue vinyl version that came out in 2019 sounds great, and will not set you back $125.

Listening to Check Your Head right now
This is such a great one. It should be more appreciated and i feel Ill Communication kinda got all the spotlight and made everyone forget how good this one is.
Professor Booty is such a wonderful jam.
