Better DotC and Quick Escape than Sea Hear Now, by an eyelash. The energy on Quick Escape is just slightly darker. So good.

Potentially unpopular RM opinion...
They were never not good, just less good than before.

Agreed. I said that very much tongue-in-cheek. Love this band.

No Mike on DOTC
That was such a disappointment at the show. I remember him not coming in when he was supposed to. The sound wasn't on for him yet or some shit. Saw him ripping pissed i think.

It's ok. I saw him play it two nights in a row, so I enjoyed it for you one of the nights

I am not a fan at all of the mixing on the new boots.

yea im not impressed. Guitars seem buried. I also just dont love Stones guitar tone right now.
That being said: These are outdoor festivals so perhaps ill reserve judgement until proper tour and more boots.

tragabigzanda wrote:Are they still using RAT sound? They’re so successful yet I’ve never been to a RAT show that sounds good. As a general rule, outdoor shows should sound better unless you’re way back on the lawn.
I hung near the soundboard at Ohana Encore and their gear boxes had the rat painted on them.

The sound was pretty great but it was very low end heavy and stone and mike were buried a little
So, i guess the boots are pretty good representative.

tragabigzanda wrote:It’s so funny when you listen to bootlegs from the 60-70s, the tone on everything is just so much better. Whatever they were doing then, they should just go back to that.
Totally baseless assumption but: Anything to do with the fact they didn't have the power/capabilities of really cranking sound out to large audience like they do now and that was then an easier controlled environment when recording/mixing the live shows?

lets go back to the 60's
Josh Evans loves the low end. The live Video releases were all pretty heavy on the low end. Its good to an extent because Ament is where he should be but it seems to all be at the expensive of the cutting guitars.
Also, again, dont like Stones guitar tone. I hope he moves on from this come full tour....
