The same group that leaked the Cawthorn videos claims they have evidence of this, that when she tried modelling and booth-babe type stuff while she was struggling financially, it led to some "Sugar Daddy" work with Cruz via the Koch brothers. Seems a bit convenient, and I'm not sure slut-shaming a woman forced into sex work by failure of the welfare state is a good look in the 21st century, but here we are.
But can we please slut shame Ted Cruz?

had to do it from behind. there is no way any woman wants to chance even a glimpse of his sex face
So instead of him being Lyin’ Ted he’s actually Lyin’ Ted

Democracy is doomed in this country. It’s just a question of how soon at this point.

And the Democrats said the previous election was stolen. This is just the new normal. Neither side is going to admit defeat anymore.

"Selected Not Elected" was in the before times. But...

Democrats didn’t grift and build a movement on “the stolen election” though. Hillary 2016 (Bernie 16 and 20) conceded as soon as they lost and dropped it. Let’s not pretend what Trump did (and is doing) is equivocal.

It's certainly possible to gamble that a GOP takeover this fall will coincide with a recession and voters will blame them, but I'm not sure how that helps.

And events like this are gonna be a lot more common going forward:

Republican Mayra Flores flips South Texas district to become first Mexican-born congresswoman

Joe Biden will be President, so… I don’t think it’s possible Dems get blamed for a recession.

Yes, correct. Also the GOP are winning the presidency in 2024--that was decided in 2020 when Biden won the primary, and any Dem strategy needs to take that as its starting point.

I actually missed a word there, no way Dems don’t get blamed.

What gamble? It’s a foregone conclusion that the Dems will gets trounced, and a recession is a near-certainty

Sorry, should have been more clear. The gamble being that voters might blame the red team if the two events occur in close temporal proximity. They won't given the persistent lie that only blue teamers haphazardly spend trillions of unfunded buckeroos. But they might.

But with an influx of far-right “no social services for anyone” types, I think the general state of things could be enough to change some minds (via widespread upticks in drug use, depression, crime, plus shitty roads and transit). The biggest flaw in the GOP playbook right now is that all their policies will make life miserable for a lot of people, but that would have to play out in real time.
But those very people worship the GOP. That’s their hardcore base. Look at Trump. Look at fucking Mitch McConnell.

There’s no such thing as a South Boston accent.
Help a non-local out. Is there a generic New England accent that varies in intensity without obvious geographical trends?
There is the generic accent that you find in Eastern New England (excluding most of Maine), which can fairly be called the Boston accent. It does vary based on geographic trends, but not so much that different parts of the city itself have different versions of the accent.

People in South Boston have been associated with the accent. Although I suspect the increase in young professionals living in Southie has changed things.
South Shore accent is different than a North Shore accent. And a Maine accent is its own animal. But no, Southie is not it's own thing.
Eh, the South Shore Accent is pretty much the Southie/DOT transplant accent so it kind of is a thing.

Arizona Iced Tea will go up a $1.
