Apparently Lovie favors Winston over Mariotta.

i think its pretty much a lock that Winston will be the Bucs pick as long as he doesnt sound like a complete moron in his interviews and doesnt get in trouble again before the draft....though i still hope Mariota somehow becomes the pick

I realize winston isn't an elfin douche with no translatable nfl skills....but wouldnt the bucs rather avoid a johnny debacle type situation with their pick?

I think at this point the Bucs are hoping for a QB that will be a starter for more than two years. Whether that is Winston, Mariotta, or trade for someone I don't know.

Looks like the Bucs signed Bruce Carter from Dallas, most likely to be the new MLB

Also working on a contract for Chris Conte from Chicago, he will probably just be for depth at saftey

Henry Melton is signing a 1 year deal with the Bucs....kinda wish he was signing a longer deal but maybe he has a nice year and they sign him to a longer contract next year.

Chris Conte is also signing a 1 year deal and that seems just about right.

Stefen Wisniewski left his visit without a contract which kinda sucks, i think he would have been an upgrade to the terrible O line, but he probably wanted too much money, the Bucs still have interest though apparently.

Derrick Morgan was supposed to be getting there late last night for a visit, and after cutting Michael Johnson i really cant see them letting him out of the building with out a deal today. he would be solid but definitely not the 10+ sack guy Lovie is looking for.

They're signing Conte and cutting Gholston. So I'm thinking Conte will be the starter and will look to the draft for safety depth.

Relieved to see who we are cutting. Now need o-lineman and a DE or two who don't completely and utterly suck.

It's ridiculous how many previous high profile FA signings they've cut. Whoever the GM was that made those deals was terrible.

Well, it's a chicken or the egg thing, because while they have had pretty good talent, they have changed coaches fairly quickly so there are quite a few misfits. Until they have some continuity I think that's part of the issue.

Lovie screwed up the QB situation last year going with Mccown. That was a mistake. Michael Johnson must really not work if they are losing 7 million for him to go away.

Wierd that they are looking at another GT guy in Derrick Morgan if Johnson didn't work out.

Collins, Johnson and McCown were all signed by the current GM, but i think him and Lovie were trying to turn the team around in 1 off season and made bad decisions. Collins got paid and got lazy IMO, i kinda wish they had kept Johnson, he under performed but i think he could have still been the guy Lovie was looking for but if he was on the roster today then next years salary would have been fully guaranteed i believe. i do like that they realized their mistakes and cut ties quickly, this year they are taking a less exciting but i think much smarter approach to FA.

Initially they were apparently interested in DeMarco Murray. Glad they aren't going that route. They have enough guys to do just fine with a running-back-by-committee to not have to spend big bucks on Murray.

I still have this feeling that Glennon could be better than average with a good O-line. But I'm not sure he'll get his chance, at least in Tampa.

Not sure I understand how the college they went to has any influence.

I think Electro was just saying it was weird as a coincidence.

But on a related note, are you a Bucs fan? If so, are you excited/nervous about the prospect of Winston going first overall?

I agree on Glennon. Tough to say. They must see something that they don't like.

Yeah I think that's what he meant. It is weird for sure. I'm fine as long as the bucs never draft a DE from Clemson again though.

As for Winston, I'm beyond excited.

Just an odd coincidence. I think they were both there under Chan Gailey. Morgan has apparently left town anyway.

Yep. Left Atlanta without a deal as well. Something is up with him.
