Well that went sideways quick. I got a call from my mum this morning telling me that my dad had passed. I'm waiting at the airport now for a flight up north. I feel hollow, but blessed and thankful for the time I had with him. I know he's in a better place now having a much better time then he was here

Been good being around family sharing stories and healing together. Still feels surreal. I was just speaking with dad on the phone this morning and he sounded good. Less then half an hour later my mum went to visit him and thought he was just sleeping. Turns out I was the last one to speak with him. I'm just glad I got to tell him that I loved him one last time.

Im glad you got to talk to him and told him that. I think its a very nice way to pass, with your kid telling you how much he loves you.
Big hug from here.

I do feel good about our last conversations. He told me several times that he really appreciated me and stuff which will stay with me till I'm gone. Being up with the family has been so good - and my wife and kids made it up yesterday. Today my wife, brother and I are going to view the body which will be hard, and the funeral is tomorrow. I've read through what I've written a couple of times, and can't finish it without tears. I stand no chance being able to get through it all tomorrow

then do not worry about getting through it dry eyed. hold those words tightly and use them to help you get through the tough times that lie ahead

Last weekend, my mom - who is undergoing treatment for lung cancer - decided to buy a pack of darts and smoke them. Can’t let that Chantix lapse yet, I guess.

The excuse I’ve heard in the past is “I already have cancer, how can they hurt me now?”
