Question for the video game players. I’m familiar with the part two storyline from watching my wife’s kids play it, so;
- Spoiler: show
- one of those nurses in the operating room was Abby, right?

No, but it was the actor who played the character.

Thanks in advance for keeping the spoiler tags going for the next season...
With regard to the finale, I liked it. I don't like Joel's choice, but I can understand as a parent why he'd want a "do over."

Yeah there's really no doubt about this in my mind. People are way too sympathetic for him.

Joel is a bit obsessive, too.
Obsessed with finding his brother.
And now obsessed with "fathering" Ellie.

How many uninfected do you think Joel has killed since the start of the outbreak? Hundreds? Over a thousand?

I was squarely on Joel's side during his rampage.
I'm no post-apocalyptic zombie mycologist, but the Firefly unplan to synthesize a vaccine or cure was shoddy and half-assed. They hadn't spent a day examining Ellie at their shithole facility with one doctor and they were already jumping ahead to cutting her brain out. The "scientific" method at play reminded me of Nazi experiments where Josef Mengele shot sets of twins and timed their deaths with a stopwatch.
This is the only immune person in existence, and they can't start with blood tests? Spinal fluid? Cranial fluid? A non-fatal brain surgery? If the brain didn't yield a cure, then they'd have been back to square one, except with no living immune person to study.
Marlene wasn't offering actual science. Their plan was thoughtless butchery. If Ella is indeed the best hope for a cure, Joel may well have saved the human race.

S1 was mediocre at best, but the last episode was fun.

Did t they say the chemical that provided immunity was created inside the brain? I thought that was why they had to remove her brain to get to that particular part

No, they said that the cordyceps go to the brain, which is where they believe her immunity stems from

That’s how you

Now go play Part II.

I see your point and it’s well-made that there didn’t seem to be enough evidence to risk Eli’s life like that. But the point is you don’t know how much knowledge they had or how likely it was that she would produce the cure with her death. And neither did Joel. And to go on a rampage like that murdering all of those people who are trying to fix humanity you better be damn sure what you’re doing is the right thing. Sacrifice one persons life which could save the world or sacrifice many lives just because you are attached to the one person? What about people who are attached to all the innocent ones that he murdered? Or all the people he let die that the cure would potentially save. I guess they don’t matter

Maybe it’s explained in the game, if it is pleased don’t post a spoiler, but they don’t seem to know or care much about the rest of the world.
I feel like we’ve seen this plot before… the one immune person is killed…
