Alfa Mist is of the new wave of British Jazz (if that's a thing) and has released his 2nd album "Variables" during the year. He's an East London lad and mixes a few different styles up in this one. His piano playing is excellent, but its actually the drums and, in many cases, guitar work that stand out for me here. The review I read mentioned that this release addresses a key weakness in so much contemporary jazz in that it actually has some decent tunes! Here's one of them, the title track.

He actually does a little rapping across 2 or 3 of the tracks, and I am normally not at all a fan of London based rappers with their London based accents (I'm looking at you Little Simz), but Alfa manages to keep it low key and cool. Worth a listen if you need a come down album.

yeah thats was good. Really exited bout the new album.

Also, i discovered a shoegaze band called Acid Ghost, kinda loved one of their albums and saw that they released a new one this year and the lead singer seems to be cancelled because rape allegations.

If you like pop music, maybe you will like this pop music. You might think the lyrics are a little cringe, but try not to get too distracted by that

yup! it's fucking great, it has Marsha P. Johnson on the cover, and it's basically a love letter to struggling trans folks

Yeah, I liked that. Didn't find the lyrics to be overly cringey.

Good work, Aggro.

I did not like it. Very repetitive and the chorus is a whole lot of nothing. The lyrics were whatever but adding a random "oh" at the end of the line so it rhymes with "ego?" Come on
