Out of nostalgia and curiosity I listened to the new Say Anything album. It has some of the messiest, most uncomfortable-airing-of-dirty-laundry lyrics I've ever heard.

A tremendous amount of references to semen
I worship the ground beneath your splendid backside
Let it crown my eyes because

I'll always come for Sherri DuPree
I'll always come for Sherri DuPree
I'll always come for Sherri DuPree
These are my thoughts on cum
You botched her nut a jillion times
Now she's gonna get herself off
It may require an army of balls
Lined up by height, styles to your eye
Shot up in the stall with Sodium Pentothal
Bend over, drop trou and cough
Tonight, she's gonna get herself off
Several references to being (falsely?) accused of rape, plus the fact that his wife's sister (Stacy Dupree, of the band Eisley) reported his household to Child Protective Services due to apparent neglect
Snuggled up tight in the guts of your pod
Kanye, Marvel, Break-Up, Sherri flipped her lid
Her sister tried to take my kids
No, fuck that, her husband did

Accused me of rape so
I shattered four iPhones in a row
There's proof in my liver, so now like Rivers
I've got to get right back to The Good Life
Me and Conor will drink to our lawyer tonight
And never once mention how he also freed Cosby
He'd still take stacks to clean lies right off me
If the iceberg fits, it'll sink Say Anything
But Billy Zane shot himself, so will Darren King
Darren King, Darren King
Darren King, Google him
There's a song called "Woman's Song" that ends with the singer literally weeping as he sings about getting his daughter taken from him, followed by a weird "skit" where he talks to his wife about whether that song is too personal and weird

Wild stuff

The best and most amazing thing about all of that is the Weezer reference!

It reminds me of How I'm Feeling Now with a touch of the pop formalism of Crash. Good stuff

Studio debut from Orebolo is out this week (very good even though most of the songs originate from their respective band histories), and Strand of Oaks has a new album that is pretty good - higher on synthesizers than his previous releases, and not as immediately infectious as In Heaven or Eraserland.

How many months is your calendar?

The halfway point is when June is over. When six months have actually passed

Though I guess this is like music mags posting their "best of the year" in early December

Astigmatism? Yeah but it's not so bad. Only about 0.75 diopters
