it's incredible how much their music climbed in quality just in the space of two albums (and with Vitalogy next? insane)

Love WMA, but Insignificance, Do the Evolution, and a few others might have something to say about that.

Yep, Yield with Brain of J/Faithfull the closest to it.
VinylGuy wrote:Insignificance and Grievance are the best ones
Brain of J doesn’t have the lyrical substance that those do but it’s up there too.

WMA is definitely a super underrated song. I adore it so much.

I love the way No Code opens. Sometimes is a great table setter and then Hail Hail hits you like a ton of bricks. This serves to bring out the best in each of those songs.

Hail, Hail used to jump-scare me the first few times I listened to it in the context of the album.

along those lines, Elderly Woman... used to do the same.

I am pretty sure I’ve told this story before but on the night of release, we went to a midnight madness party, got the disc and at 12:30/1:00am I put the thing in the boombox and listened with my friend. During Sometimes I thought there was something wrong with the CD and kept turning it up through the song so I could properly hear. We got the dial nearly all the way around when Hail Hail kicked on and I jumped so high I hit my head on the ceiling…and at that volume I raced over to lower it, looked at my friend, and we looked like a pair of guys who just saw Michael Myers jump out of those speakers.

Still does this to me from time to time.
