I was thinking about starting a new thread to do the weekly mixtape review we were talking about so that it wouldn't take away from doing a full exchange once every few months. Should I hold off on that for now?

Whatever works for you. It's easy for me say "let's go" and not have to do any of the leg work, so what ever makes your life simpler, go for it.

So I have a mix that starts with PJ Harvey into Lykke Li (Rich Kid Blues) and I have no idea who made it or what the exact tracklist is. Anyone know of this?

This is the mix I had tagged as the first secret mix and you guys were all talking about Americana. Sure I hade little sleep just after Elsie was born but I thought, really?

I have enjoyed some of that, Lament. I'll listen again after I've plowed thru the 9 secret mixes.

If I had shazamed it all it would have been obvious.

Haha, yeah, Americana it is not.

Glad you enjoyed some of it though!

A friend swore by Mansun's first album and I never got it. Thanks for posting the tracklist dude.

The first Mansun album is amazing, though I feel like you'd prefer the second one, Six. It's very different (the Mansun track on here is from Six).

Nice bump. We should do this again, but with lament's suggestion on the last page - making a mix to post here rather than making a mix for a specific person.

“Intro” – the XX:
“L.I.A.B.” – Onra:
“Scenic World” – Beirut: almost physically repulsive
“Over the Love” – Florence and the Machine: even worse
“Crown on the Ground” – Sleigh Bells: deeply unpleasant
“Latch (Album Version)” – Disclosure: (26 sec skip)
“Wildfire” – SBTRKT: (37 sec skip)
“Happy Up Here” – Royskopp (5 sec skip)
“Sultan’s Request” – Flying Lotus: look, this isn’t really my thing, but it’s better than anything else on this mix by miles
“Soldier” – Erykah Badu: *shrug*

I could imagine someone uncritically tolerating this largely featureless, unremarkable collection of sounds as they might the reassuringly bland artwork in a doctor’s office but to express genuine preference this music, above all other potential options, is frankly mind-boggling.
Hahaha what an asshole

I’m sorry.

I stand by the review, though.

Sorry it wasn't your thing, man!

Yeah, I'd be cool with that, though I'm not sure if we have enough active posters in Other Bands anymore to make it worthwhile for long. For what it's worth, we did realize Lament's suggestion for a few months in 2014: http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtop ... f=6&t=4039. It was pretty fun.
