I haven't played it since I drove from Chicago to Florida the week before Thanksgiving (which was the first time I'd played it since the week it came out).

Live: Throwing Copper

Track 1: Can't remember the name. something about waaaahhh or something
Track 2: Also can't remmeber the name. or the song. not really sure I can remember where that hit single of this band's appeared on this album actually, and if it's name was Throwing Copper. I feel like that song had a different name than the album though.
Track 3: Wherever that hit single was on this thing - it really wasn't that great in retrospect. when I was just a pup it was interesting, but I heard it somewhere randomly like 2-3 years ago and it just struck me like whoa this is pretty bland, but I could see how it was impressive when I was an adolescent. Kind of like how the movie A Few Good Men might have been considered a serious film when it came out, but now if you happen to catch it on TNT on a random Sunday at 3pm you're just like: Whoa - this is only impressive to dumb people.
Tracks 4 - Something: can't remember any of this other stuff or how many songs were on this album. haven't listened to this lately...

Mind Your Manners, Lightning Bolt, Sleeping By Myself, and Pendulum are top tier tunes for me. Infallible, Swallowed Whole, and Yellow Moon are close

Funny that someone is mentioning Throwing Copper, since it was a huge record of my teenage time. Becuase it's been exactly 20 years since it came out, I decided to find it in my old CD collection and pull it out. What I did is rotate it between QOTSA Rated R, another one of my faves from several years later. Now I am bouncing back between my ultra sarcastic a-hole side (Rated R) and my really unabashed sincere earnest side (Throwing Copper). I kind of like the sarcastic a-hole side I developed over the years, but it would scare me to lose my really sincere earnest side, so I just said to myself, fuck it, this TC album still resonates with me coolness-be-damned. For some odd reason, while I've been taking a Lightning Bolt moratorium for the last month or two, it's starting to land me right back in with PJ and LB. Who knows why, but those 2 aforementioned albums somehow combine to potentially lead me back to LB. Another realization I had during this time, Yield is a really really good record.

All said, LB is an individual song album for me. Certain songs I go and spin a ridiculous amount of times. Could be any of them between Getaway, MFS, Sirens, LB, Infallible, Pendulum, SW, Yellow Moon, or FD (but not SBM or LTRP). Haven't had a PJ album like that since Vs as far as I can remember. As far as an album sequence, it doesn't work as well as the last couple have. I can't just put it on and leave it like I did with Backspacer, I have to skip around.

Live was my first music love as a young teen. Throwing Copper was the first album I ever bought myself, I put it on layby ('straylian for layaway) at K-mart and paid it off with my $2 a week pocket money.

In case some of you fellow (ex-)Live fans missed it in OB, I recently finished putting together a 10CD Live B-Sides & Rarities compilation which you can download here. It contains tons of great live performances (they were an amazing Live band back in the days before Ed tried to turn them into a contemporary Christian band) and rare unreleased tracks such as 'Hold Me Up' featured in the film 'Zack & Miri Make A Porno'.

Ed Kowalczyk is about to release 'Throwing Copper Live' via Pledge Music on CD/DVD, a performance of the whole album front to back with his new band recorded live in Sydney earlier in the year (which I went to - was good fun). Available in a variety of overpriced bundles, including a 'Skype Hangout' where he will perform an acoustic song for you over a private Skype session for a cool $750 (this Ed leaves the other wealthy Ed meme for dead ).

At risk of hijacking the thread, the other three member of Live still own the band naming rights after the messy fall-out, and have just finished recording a new album with their glory-days producer Jerry Harrison (of Talking Heads fame), and their new lead singer, Chris Shinn (of United Theory) - but that's a whole 'nother story...
