Rm could be purgatory. How would we even know?
If it is ... We're gonna be here a while.dimejinky99 wrote:Rm could be purgatory. How would we even know?
If pergatory is where you improve yourself to get into heaven ... That didn't happen in the flash sideways. It happened on the island.epilogue wrote:who knowsMonkey_Driven wrote:I'm not sure how people continue to miss this.epilogue wrote:Be convinced. but they sure do

Hurley created the flash sideways so that everybody could join up and work their stuff out and move on together. They were alive on the island and then at various points everybody died, as people tend to do.B wrote:If pergatory is where you improve yourself to get into heaven ... Flash sideways was a parking lot.
Wait. the numbers never came back up. What were the numbers? Were they their candidate numbers on the compass?epilogue wrote:B wrote:Man, I'll tell you what ... once that hatch blows up, no one gives a fuck about the numbers. Why were we so obsessed with the numbers?![]()
That was so much a part of the fun of the OG experience, for me. And the numbers still matter. Sort of. You'll see.
No, that happened on The Island and was real.B wrote:Non antagonistic question, maybe I missed hints.
Is the flash sideways the world where Jack set off the bomb?
Ben's dad died on the island and Ben was still alive in season 6 post-bomb. As the flash sideways is in the afterlife it exists outside of our view of time.B wrote: So, people like Ben and his father went to the island, worked for a bit, and then returned home after some nut attacked the camp and set off a nuclear bomb?
The flash sideways is a purgatory style world Hurley made (presumably using his Jacob powers) for everybody to meet up in the afterlife, solve their stuff, and move on together. There's no island in the flash sideways. The season opens with the flight of 815 over the Pacific and you see the Island submerged underwater.B wrote: Or is the flash sideways as if the island never existed?
Correct, the flash sideways is not the "real world." I've always wondered what that means for people like the son Jack never had. Is he just like an afterlife NPC there to help Jack figure things out? That's kinda how I take it.B wrote: It's clearly not just "the plane didn't crash." Because Jack has a son and Sawyer is a cop, etc.
YT no, maybe some of that is from DVD extras, idk. Ben murdered his dad on the island, we see that happen on the show. Not made up.B wrote:Are you using youtubey stuff and DVD extras to answer that? I think all that's made up.
And Ben's dad was alive when the bomb went off. That's why I wondered if the flash sideways was just a universe where the bomb went off, destroyed the power source under the island, and thus everyone's life was different from that point forward.
I'm not saying that should be a dealbreaker but I'm not saying it shouldn't be a dealbreaker.Strat wrote:I love this show. Would love to be transported to this world again with new eyes. Hopefully I can convince my girlfriend to watch it with me someday

As far as what you're wondering, that's exactly what you're supposed to wonder during season 6 but the finale tells us that's not what the flash sideways was. In the finale, we're told explicitly by Christian that everything on the Island happened. We're told the flash sideways occurs "after" (though there's not really time "here") everybody died. We see the ones who were ready move on together to whatever the next phase of the afterlife is that they're entering.
