Still love this weird period of the band so much:

Noooo that made me so upset

Though "slightly heavy heart" is hilarious. Something clearly went down with Robert

I would definitely have preferred to have seen every other current member leave before Simon.

I kind of hope this might prompt Robert to sack everyone else and start fresh.

I acknowledge this is unfair because I've never met the guy, but Roger always comes across like a gigantic dick (and I don't care for his musical contributions either).

I didn't realise Simon's wife passed away in 2019, which puts some obvious context around the shows he missed that year (where his son Eden filled in).

His bass work might be the best thing about The Cure. Really sucks to hear he left.

I don't know why I said this, on reflection it would definitely be even worse.

Robert's track record for adding new members (Jason, Reeves - arguably Perry) has been pretty terrible in the last few decades.

I think it's time to let the band finally rest.

It's a crowded field of contenders but this period has to be in the running for the absolute nadir of the band:

I'll take that over most of Bloodflowers actually

I guess I wasn't specifically referring the quality of the song - it's the whole thing.

It's like the band's collective sense of aesthetics and taste completely deserted them overnight somewhere in the mid 2000s.

I don't like Bloodflowers as an album but I'd say that period is the last time the band still kind of felt a bit like The Cure, even though many of the key members (Lol, Boris Porl) had long since moved on.

In other news, Perry Bamonte is apparently now employed the artistic director of Fly Culture, a publication dedicated to his new passion of fly fishing:
