Jesus Christ, guys - Gilmour and it's not even close.

I've yet to hear anything Prince has played that I find even a little bit interesting.

Prince died without a will.

Time to transition this thread to an analysis of Minnesota intestate law:

Did Prince have a spouse?

Any children? There must be a love child out there somewhere ...

I prefer Gilmour's playing and he has nice tone but when I saw Prince live I was speechless. Phenomenal player.

Thought I might get a Gilmour contrarian but yeah, Prince ftw.

The real question is how high do we put him on the official RM guitar hall of fame (in the rock era). I don't know how you don't at least put him top 5.

Damn Funknroll in the Arsenio show was pretty badass. I love that song.

Happy to be of service.

I have no doubt Prince could play circles around Gilmour from a technical perspective but who cares?

I am all for passion over technicality, but prince is a goddamn master at both. Gilmour has a few great solos but?

He had a child that died but thanks for playing.

I am not the kind of guy who focuses on solos, I just think there's something inherently musically interesting about the way Gilmour approaches the instrument and I don't get that from Prince.

It's not just big rock solos. You have to think about all the things he did from a funk perspective as well.

I will try thinking about the funk.

...

Nope, it didn't take.

I don't think Prince made very good music, generally speaking.

I'll see myself out.

I like where your head's at.

What I want to know is who stands to profit most when Prince suddenly kicks off and bam, 8 of his albums shoot into the Billboard Top 200.

I would spend some more quality time with the funk if at all possible. Perhaps don a trench coat and your favorite pair of black satin briefs. It will eventually all fall into place.

I think me and Spenno are so diametrically opposed that if we ever met we'd just cancel each other out.

I was trying to identify a Prince concert that I saw on TV in the 90's that blew me the fuck away. I gave up when I found out that he had like a dozen TV concert specials, and they are all extremely over-the-top and irritating as fuck to watch, sometimes with a horrible storyline intertwined with the concert footage like a 70's porno. What the fuck was wrong with him?

I think it's odd that Spenno likes the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam's garbage funk songs so much and yet thinks Prince didn't make good music. He is a fascinating specimen.
