How familiar are you with David Lynch's work?

Blue Velvet will give you a lot to chew on if you're watching Twin Peaks, for sure.

For more of a context on what he does and his style and approach to film making, I'd say check out Mullholland Drive and Lost Highway. You'll get a great sense of his overarching themes, visuals, and use of sound/music. But for more context into Twin Peaks, definitely check out Blue Velvet. That sort of small town/dark underbelly is also explored in that film. And I think Blue Velvet (though not explicitly connected) clearly shares the same universe somehow. They are cousins of each other in many ways.

Cool, I think I can watch it via Amazon Prime.

Fun coincidental fact about Blue Velvet that has nothing to do with anything; MacLachlan's character shares a last name with the town I'm from, and the town the film is set in shares a name with the next town over from my hometown. I've always felt a weird connection with that movie for those two reasons.

Not trying to get deep into theories or anything, but I have a few observations anyway. Watched FWWM last night...
durdencommatyler wrote:Once again, I'm reminded that this really is a culmination of all his work.
More and more, I think that the Big Bang of this whole lodge mythology thing is in that Phillip Jeffries scene. Seems like every image, character and word happening there just expands and expands throughout the old series and the new one. If you take it chronologically within the greater story, it feels like an overture of sorts.
ties in with that humming mechanism with numbers on it that Cooper travels through after he exits the Black Lodge proper.
Again, I'm just vomiting observations at this point and seeing what sticks. We could do this with so many scenes across the series because, like we've all said, it all feels like a blurry culmination. That Jeffries business, though... Something to it.
When's the last time you watched Fire Walk With Me, Joey? I really forgot how enjoyable the Chet Desmond/Sam Stanley portion is on it's own. That diner scene is great.

I saw a 35mm screening at BAM about four weeks ago. It was glorious.
He really pushed boundries with whats weird...there were a lot of scenes were i was thinking wtf is happening here and were is this thing going....i kinda forget how TP works...i think the first two were stronger....but then that finale with Lynch and Ferrer...thats pure magic.
Im kinda tired with the dougie arc. Bring Coop back. I hope they explain how dougie exists in the first place...but for now, just bring Coop back.....
I think they basically did already: he was a decoy so that if Coop tried to come back, Bob wouldn't be pulled into the Black Lodge. Honestly: that's the most clearly explained plot point so far this season.

That was the explanation? I want to know how bob created him at least.
