I get that. But is Dario specifically a more compelling character, or shown to be a better fighter? Coz based on the show, I don't know what Dany sees in him.
Yes. He's way tougher/cooler/sexier/awesome in the books.

All the characters are more compelling in the books.
What does Dany see in Daario? Well, Dany sees herself. At least the part of her that is blood of the dragon, that rules through fire and blood.
