What about Chase Utley?

To me, Utley's an easy yes. He's right up there with Biggio, Alomar, and Sandberg, although with less longevity and a much better peak.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have all the traditional numbers and milestones that voters are normally looking for. So I'm guessing he falls somewhere in the Jeff Kent borderline area.

I can't believe that Edgar Martinez (who should make it BTW) is going to make it in before Alan Trammell.

A bunch of people voting for Trevor Hoffman while leaving Edgar off because "he's just a DH" is pretty hilarious.

That's how I feel. I mean, just look at JAWS for second basemen. But for me Utley is an easy yes while Kent is a big maybe.

I've always viewed Kent as a "probably", but that's without doing a whole lot of research. Either way, Utley is a clear level above him.

What's worse is there are people giving votes to fucking Jorge Posada while leaving Edgar Martinez off...fucking embarrassing

Check out Jon Heyman's bullshit: http://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/heymans ... ll-ballot/

Bonds and Clemens get in because, while we know for sure the used steroids, they were awesome before they started. As if we know the precise date when they started using.

Meanwhile, Bagwell doesn't get his vote because there are rumours that he may have used at some point, and, assuming he did, he wouldn't have been good enough to make the Hall of Fame without them.

What a disingenuous load of shit.

He voted for Bonds but left Clemens off.
He voted for Lee Smith, Jorge Posada, Fred McGriff, and Trevor Hoffman while leaving off Roger Clemens, Curt Schilling, and Jeff Bagwell.

Wagner was better than both Smith and Hoffman.

His Guerrero vs. Walker comparison is hilarious, too.

"Walker has a MUCH higher WAR than Guerrero, but I don't believe that because Lou Whitaker isn't better than Derek Jeter. Anyway, here's a random assortment of Guerrero stats. It doesn't matter what Walker's stats were in those categories because he played a bunch of years in Colorado."

I feel like Wagner is criminally underrated, but that's just me I guess.

Smith only really gets the kind of support he does because he held the save record for a while.

Saves are just kind of a fun side note. They're not a way to evaluate players.
