I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I thought it was pretty forgettable. I had to skip Linklater after five minutes of his BS, and Rockwell was very nice and likable, but also very "Hollywood actor," in that it felt very fluffy. "ACTOR X was great, so much fun to work with," etc.

Break the tie, durds -- good episode or bad episode?!
You go it!

I'll try to give a whirl while I'm at work. Hopefully, I won't get too bugged by customers.

I'm looking forward to it based on the theme of the season. Failure (and pivot) of startups is a big interest of mine, so I'm actually pretty excited about the idea of a season full of small stories and segments.

I may need to re-listen to the Dating Ring season. I remember not liking it as much as S1, but I may not have been judging the story on it's own merits.

As an aside, I'm so into everything Gimlet it's sickening.
Spoiler: show
Actually that's not true. I can't really get into Surprisingly Awesome.

Oh man. I love Mystery Show so much. The wonder and beauty of the mundane things in our lives has never been more perfectly captured than when explored through the meticulous verve of a persistent sleuth like Starlee Kine. Though, if you want to talk about that theme done well, look no further than the Zardulu episode of Reply All. Everything I love about the little wonders that a life in the digital age holds is right there.

They really seemed to have a rough time of it yesterday on Twitter. Making an announcement nearly a week before the start of the new season then waiting until nearly midnight to release the episode didn't sit that well with people. And when the episode DID launch, there were major audio difficulties with some of the recorded conversations. Still, good for those guys working through whatever technical difficulties they had to deliver their product as fast as they could.

Should be a good season. I just finished the Dave Eggers novel The Circle, a tech "thriller" in which characters work for a company bent on sharing every moment of people's lives, and I can't help but think that the author had the project featured in this episode in mind when he explored the idea of transparency and privacy.

Listening to the other Nightvale podcast, "Alice Isn't Dead", and I'm not sure if I like it. I don't like the narrative tricks they use (the conversation splitting mid-sentence) but as the episodes go on they seem to be using them less and less.

I unsubscribed from WTF bc I wasnt enjoying them much, but I still periodically check in to see who he has on. So, I'm only listening to the John Lurie episode now, and that guy is the man. Great.

i started that one..and yeah Lurie is such a cool character. I was very drawn to him back in the day with his Jarmusch movies and his music.

I want to listen, but I don't want any H&P spoilers. I've only seen the first episode. Can I listen to this?
There are definitely some spoilers, especially for episode 4 (I haven't seen any of it). If you don't want to hear that, you should probably wait.
