If all goes well, I'll finally see this on Tuesday. And I'm super excited!

The guy who wants to liberate the oppressed peoples of the world...is the villain? He’s the one character with personality and charisma and hip-hop swagger and he practically seethes black righteousness...and he’s killed? And that’s good? The isolationist ruling class retains social dominance...and hurray? Strange...feels like a message that would be in a sociopolitical opiate instead of a work of “black power” art.

This trash was every bit as bad as it looked. Ugly cinematography with flat, cheap, unimaginative visuals, terrible writing full of embarrassing Marvel humor that routinely undercuts drama and assures the audience they shouldn’t take any of this too seriously, boring-to-bad performances from everyone except Andy Serkis and Michael B. Jordan, and grating, pervasive, overbearing score that drowns out reflection or atmosphere. This movie is utterly bereft of feeling or soul. It is black empowerment (and art) neutered into homogenized meaninglessness.

The slithering, uncontainable charisma of Andy Serkis just amplifies the constrasting dullness of his surroundings. That guy is incredible, even though they try to ruin it every chance they get by making him say cringe-inducing lines like “That was awesome!”
I agree with a lot of what you say here, specially in the cinematic department. Its a ver ugly looking blockbuster.

I'm seeing this tomorrow. We bought our tickets already which normally isn't necessary in week 2 but I was afraid of it selling out. The online convenience fee is ridiculous. Someone should make a movie about that.

I adore having the "convenience fee" conversation with people at my box office. It's outstanding.

I'd light right in to you Joey. You'd get a real chewing out.

Most people do, friend. I'm totally used to it. It's amazing when you explain the concept to someone and you get to watch their face totally change and sag and then snap back into defensive mode. :haha:

What do you mean? What's the reason for what?

A good reason for a convenience fee besides squeezing blood from my stones.

Go directly to the source and you don't pay it.

A cinematic black mark on marvels otherwise otherwise solid record.

Eh? Eh?

Wrong meeting.

I'm absolutely not alright with that. Convenience fees are getting out of control! Which is why, as a box office employee, I'm very much in favor of going directly to the source to buy tickets. But for those that cannot, there is the convenience of buying online or over the phone. However, that convenience comes with an additional charge. This is to persuade the buyer to go directly to the source where the fee is waived.

Precisely. Kind of like how a nice portable soda is $1.99 at Safeway but I can buy a 2L for 99 cents.
